The nation was having huge expectation from our newly elected Prime Minister about the Independence Day speech. After fiery long campaign, addressing over 400 rallies, the Independence Day speech was the most awaited one. And all those expectation were completely fulfilled by him. A decade long vacuum created by the congress regime was finally filled by PM Narendra Modi from the ramparts of the Lal Quilla.
After Indira Gandhi all the successors lacked oratory skills. The gap was filled when the BJP led NDA governement came to power with Atal Bihari Vajpayee as their Prime Minister. Now after 10 years of silence, Modi's powerful speech brought back life in the occasion.
The excitement was not just seen in the all Bhartiya's but also foreign missions in Delhi. Almost 153 foreign missions based in Delhi applied for passes of which 144 attended the ceremony. In the past, not more than 50-60 foreign missions used to approach the ministry of external affairs for passes.
Breaking Traditions
PM Modi broke the traditions of his predecessors of reading the speech which is actually meant to be an address to the nation. Modi's speech was extempore like an interaction with the nation. People were able to connect themselves with the speech.
PM Modi also told his security staff to get rid of the bullet proof glass or cubicle which is normally built around the podium. The PM wanted to have a personal touch with the poeple and hence he told to remove those barricades.
Pradhan Sevak
In the beginning of the speech after giving the greetings of the Independence Day PM Modi mentioned himself as Pradhan Sevak of the country and not the Pradhan Mantri.
Vedic Mantra
PM paid respects to previous governments of Centre and State and also to former Prime Ministers. While speaking about the history of the nation PM said this country has been built on the foundation of ancient cultural heritage, where we were told of only one mantra during Vedic period "Sangachchhdhvam Samvadadhvam sam wo manansi jaanataam -- We walk together, we move together, we think together, we resolve together and together we take this country forward."
Governments within Government
PM expressed regrets about the situation in Delhi. Same governments department sue each other in the court of law. PM assured the nation that the government officers are competent and I will make sure they work together to take the nation forward.
Banking For The Poorest
PM announced the Pradhamantri Jan-Dhan Yojana through which each family can have a bank account with a debit card facility and also an insurance cover of Rs.1Lakh. If the economic development has to benefit the poor it has to start from here.
Adopt a Village
PM asked his MPs to adopt a village and develop the same in order to set examples for others. MPs should adopt a village from their constituencies and utiltise their MPLAD funds to usher development of those areas. The Sansad Aadarsh Gram Yojana will strive in the areas of health, sanitation and greenery.
Make In India
The PM urged all the Indians settled abroad to come back and manufacture in India. PM stressed importance on the manufacturing sector. The country had the necessary skill, talent, discipline and determination to achieve something.
Zero Defect, Zero Effect
The PM urged the business class to make the "Made In India" a brand in the world market. PM encouraged the manufacturers to adopt a policy of Zero Defect in the products and Zero Effect to the environment policy which will ensure overall development without effecting our mother nature. PM also urged the youth to reduce their dependence on imported goods and start using our own manufactured goods. We should become job creators.
End of Nehruvian Legacy
The PM has scrapped the Planning Commission which will be making way for an institution that gives a new direction to the country through creative thinking, public-private partnership & optimum utilization of the available resources. In the new institution, the states will also have a major role while developing reforms.
Women Security
PM Modi raised the point of dual mindset of parents regarding their children. The PM questioned them just like we ask our girls where are you going? When will you return? Whom are you meeting? Who are your friends?. Why then the same questions are not asked to boys? The rapist is also some one's son. If the parents start questioning their son's in depth like they question their daughters, women molestation cases will see a huge decrease.
Swacch Bharat
PM Modi stressed on cleanliness and sanitation. PM also asked to preserve the dignity of women and has asked his MPs to build toilets. By the next Independence Day all the schools in our country should have toilets.
Moratorium on violence
PM Modi called for a freeze in all types of violence within the country for the next 10 years. PM stressed that the country will be run on the basis of consensus of all and not on the base of majority in the Parliament. No one has gained anything in the past by the means of violence. PM has asked to shed the path of guns and adopt the path of development and peace.
Digital India
PM stressed on the importance of e-governance. By Digital India benefits will accrue for the poor rather than rich. With broadband connectivity upto the rural areas long distance education can be achieved.
The hour long extempore speech has raised expectations and this time it was not just about showing dreams in the air. PM urged the nation, If you will work for 12 hours I will workd for 13 hours. Together we will take the task of nation building forward. With overwhelming first Budget session of Lok Sabha with 104% productivity, Acchey Din ab, surely, Aaney Waley Hai.
Happy Independence Day. Bharat Mata Ki Jai. Vande Mataram
