Mumbai, slowdown

For long we have taken pride of being fast
Ever did we notice, the price paid for it

For years we are running like bulls without horns
Did we ever look back, whom we may have hurt along

Life is a precious gift, we teach our kids
How cheap it is down here
Do we even care about it

The city wants to sleep,
We don't allow it, for additional penny

The city wants to breathe,
But we don't spare a moment for it

Mumbaikar, you have seen too much
Now it's time, to Feel the loss

You saw the terror
Which fired bullets on you

You saw the broken bodies
Blown up in towers and trains

Even the nature didn't spare you
Drowned you in its wrath

Yet you stood up and left home
As if nothing happened last night

But we crossed all limits of agony the other night
When we saw Us dying under Our own feet

If this can't shake Us, then what will
We have to halt now to think upon it

Life is a race, I totally agree
But why it needs to be so brutal,
That someone may die in it

There will be blame game, there will be mockery
Some will make hay upon it and some will try to escape from it

Nothing have we got from the establishment
Nothing will we ever receive

It is time for us to realise now
Else a near ones head will be numbered in the pile
Or at worst, we will be in it

That so called spirit has taken too many lives
A smooth getaway, on which these pseudo leaders thrive

Slowdown Mumbai, you deserve some rest
Just to become someone else's dream,
See what you are losing in the end

Let go that spirit, give that soul a chance
Someone has to make a move to have a future
That shall be free of horrors, what we lived and saw

Nothing but This Change, is the need of the hour
Else that day is not far, when the city which never sleeps actually will not
As there won't be any living soul walking around
